Lecture – Civil Rights Movement in Dallas

In the introduction of the book The Accommodation by Jim Schutze,  John Wiley Price states, “In his book, Schutze argues that the civil rights movement largely passed over Dallas, resulting in a kind of tacit political arrangement that has ensured Black leaders remain reliant on Dallas’s white leadership.”

Preservation Workshop

The Dallas Branch, W Marvin Dulaney, of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) participated in a preservation workshop at the African American Museum learning how to preserve family papers and other artifacts for generations to come.

Priscilla Escobedo of the University of Texas at Arlington Libraries shared her expertise in Special Collections and Archives.

African American Heritage Quiz Bowl

Dallas African American Museum and the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Association for the Study Of African American Life And History (ASALH) presents the African American Heritage Quiz Bowl.

Dallas, February 18, 2023 – Dallas African American Museum and DFW ASALH present the inaugural African American Heritage Quiz Bowl, taking place at the African American Museum on Saturday, February18.2023, at 9 a.m., showcasing local middle and high school students knowledge of African American history.

Our quiz host will be Dr. W. Marvin Dulaney, Dallas African Amercan Museum COO and national president of ASALH.

“The quiz show format is intended to generate a high level of excitement and enthusiasm for history in a spirit of healthy competition.”
